Carol Vorderman, 61, put her knowledge to the test on Beat The Chasers on Tuesday night, but despite her best efforts she where missed out on winning a lump sum of money for charity. After the show, The Beast star Mark Labbett, 56, made a comment about her performance and appearance, but not everyone was impressed.

The quizmaster wrote: “I don’t know what is more impressive about @carolvorders, her intellect or her more tangible assets #superstar #BeatTheChasers.”

Taking no offence to his remark, the ex Countdown star replied: “You beast you,” alongside a blowing a kiss and tongue hanging out emoji.

Addressing a report focused on his comment, she added: “Well the Beast and I are having a bit of a laugh over this as he is a good buddy of mine and we always take the mick out of each other…. all hail the Beast @MarkLabbett.”

and thank you Bradders and the gang for such a great show x

While Carol didn’t have a problem with the comment, many of his 149,000 followers claimed it was “creepy”.

Gina Cook commented: “Really? This is 2022 not 1972! A bit creepy and sexist.”

TheWalkinThread added: “Such a creepy tweet!”

“Bit weird,” Anto D wrote.

Others defended Mark, with Andy The Hero adding: “It’s 2022 you’d think people would know what a joke was! If she was offended then she’d have addressed it rather than taking it as a joke.

“When did everyone become snowflakes & get offended at everything & try to cancel people.”

Caroline Soul typed: “Mark is attracted to a good looking woman. Nothing weird about that.”

Carol had hoped to win £20,000 for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA).

The presenter was sailing through the questions at the start of the round, but then passed on four questions in a row.

She unfortunately lost out to three chasers which included Mark by just seconds.

Mark later took to Twitter to apologise for beating her in the round.

He commented: “So sorry @carolvorders #BeatTheChasers.”

Back in March, the chaser said he’d been keen to date a smart woman like Carol.

He gushed: “She’s smart, and she and I have a lot of fun together.

“She’s got an IQ of 154, mine is 151, it’s great chatting to her, and we both love rugby.”

Mark added to The Sun: “She looks fantastic, you’d never know she was 60.”

He went on to say he is often sent flirty mail from some of his fans but has to “be careful” with how he replies.

“I don’t want someone getting one of those huge obsessive crushes, so I try to let them down gently,” he continued.

Mark added he didn’t want to get into a relationship which may be “problematic” or “high-maintenance”.
