The first season of provocative drama series Euphoria has been an explosion of penises, erotic fanfiction, and drugs we’ve never heard of. Which is to say, its been a roaring success. While HBO is better associated with “prestige” shows aimed at older viewers, the A24-produced Euphoria is the network’s youngest-skewing show to date, and has been a ratings smash, with over 5.5 million viewers across broadcast and streaming channels. HBO just announced that is has renewed Euphoria for a second season, before the current season has even finished airing.

“Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya,” said HBO’s Head of Drama, Francesca Orsi. “We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series.” Here’s what we know so far about the second season.
The cast
Zendaya is expected to return as teen protagonist Rue. We can also expect to see the rest of the regular cast, including Maude Apatow (Lexi), Hunter Schafer (Jules), Jacob Elordi (Nate), Angus Cloud (Fezco), Alexa Demie (Maddy), Barbie Ferreira (Kat), Storm Reid (Gia), Algee Smith (Chris), Sydney Sweeney (Cassie) and Eric Dane (Cal).
The plot
Season one follows Rue as she left rehab, struggled to find purpose in life, and became increasingly entangled with Jules. Season two is likely to follow the same extreme highs and lows that come with being a teenager—a teenager that does lots and lots of drugs.
The trailer
Shooting has yet to commence on season two, so there’s no sneak peek just yet.
The release date
No release date is set as yet, although we can probably expect a similar summer slot as this season—so keep an eye out for new episodes next June.
