Former cruise ship singer Jane McDonald, 58, has taken to Twitter to share a snap of her stunning gown while enjoying a night out at the Royal Variety Performance 2021. It comes just days after the star made her first TV appearance on Loose Women following the death of her beloved fiancé Ed Rothe, who died at the age of 67 after a battle with lung cancer in March.

Jane’s appearance at the Royal Variety Performance marks her return to showbiz events after being left heartbroken by her loss.

The star shared a selfie with classically-trained singer Carly Paoli, 32, from the Royal Albert Hall in London, while commenting on her “fabulous time” at the annual show.

In the snap, Jane and Carly smiled together for the camera.

Jane gave fans a glimpse at her glamorous dusty rose coloured dress, which featured a low-cut neckline and sparkling detailing.

The presenter and singer styled her brunette locks in Hollywood waves and enhanced her pretty features with a smokey eye make-up look and bright pink lipstick.

Jane accessorised with diamond earrings and a gold necklace.

Carly opted for a light blue gown, featuring a pretty embroidered section at the waist.

Jane wrote in view of her 175,000 followers: “Having a fabulous day with @CarlyPaoli at the Royal Variety Performance!

“Love my fabulous dress by @IK_Couture @RoyalVariety #Variety4Charity.”

It comes after Jane’s emotional chat with her fellow Loose Women panellists, during which she discussed her late partner Ed’s death for the first time.

The star admitted she had initially planned on retiring at the end of the year, but her grief over Ed has changed her mind.

Jane said: “I was supposed to be retiring at the end of the year.

“But it’s been the only thing that I know what to do.

“It’s been my healer being out with the fans and I thank them so much for everything that they’ve done for me, and Wakefield Hospice, obviously, as well.”

The Wakefield Hospice took care of Ed in his final days while he battled lung cancer.

Jane got tearful during the chat on ITV, saying: “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. I didn’t want to be like this.

She told her Loose Women co-hosts: “I don’t want to feel sad for the rest of my life, because that wasn’t Ed. Ed was golden. He was smiling, he was beautiful.”
