Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux Say Goodbye to Their Dog Dolly

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are saying goodbye to a beloved four-legged friend. Theroux revealed on Instagram that Dolly, the white German shepherd mix he shared with Aniston, had passed away. The Leftovers star shared photos from the memorial, showing their pup dressed in flower petals, laid to rest on a blanket.

He and Aniston, who announced their separation in 2018 after two years of marriage, appear to hold hands in one of the pictures as they comfort each other amid the emotional loss.

“Tonight, at sunset, after a heroic struggle … our most loyal family member and protector, Dolly A. laid down her sword and shield. 🐺💔 She was surrounded by her entire family,” Theroux captioned the post on Instagram. He followed with a quote from George Vest: “The one that never deserts, the one that never proves ungrateful … is the dog—faithful and true, even in death.”

Aniston is known to hold her dogs dear. Back in 2014, she told Harper’s BAZAAR, “I don’t live to work; I really do work to live. I love my home, I love my dogs, I love my friends, I love the simplicity of watching a sunset.”

In fact, Dolly played a role in Aniston and Theroux’s wedding in 2015. Although the former couple considered eloping, according to People, they ultimately tied the knot at home so they could include their dogs in the ceremony. “They are like Jen’s babies,” a source told the outlet at the time.

Theroux and Aniston’s decision to part ways “was mutual and lovingly made at the end of [2017],” they announced in February 2018 in a statement to The Associated Press. Despite the breakup, the two actors appear to remain on good terms, especially after Theroux wished Aniston a happy 5oth birthday on Instagram earlier this year. “❤️ you B,” he said in his greeting.
