Karlie Kloss usually keeps quiet about her close ties to the Trumps, but in a new cover story, the model and tech entrepreneur explains what her relationship with the president and his family is really like.
For context, Kloss is married to Joshua Kushner, the younger brother of senior presidential advisor Jared Kushner, who is married to Ivanka Trump. The Project Runway host might not openly share her hangouts with the POTUS’s daughter, but her connection to the first family is undeniable.
“It’s been hard,” Kloss told British Vogue for its August issue. “But I choose to focus on the values that I share with my husband, and those are the same liberal values that I was raised with and that have guided me throughout my life.”
Kloss and Joshua Kushner are both Democrats. During the 2016 presidential election, she openly supported Hillary Clinton and hashtagged #ImWithHer when she posted a photo of herself filling out her ballot. Forbes also reported in 2017 that the younger Kushner didn’t vote for Trump.
Despite Kloss and Kushner’s attempts to distance themselves from the Trump family, Ivanka Trump openly addresses their relationship on social media. While congratulating the couple on their engagement, she told Kloss, “I feel blessed to have you as a sister” in an Instagram comment. She also gave the model a shoutout on Twitter in honor of her new Project Runway gig.
