Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel: Our Custody Battle is Making Us Broke!

It looks like Kathryn Dennis’ custody battle with Thomas Ravenel is turning out to be costlier than either of them had bargained for.

Both of them have recently downsized. In Thomas’ case, that means selling his massive plantation house.

Is this custody war making them both broke? Take a look:

Kathryn Dennis is no longer residing in the 5-story townhouse that got her scolded for irrational spending by her Southern Charm castmates.

In fact, she tells People that she’s being a lot more careful these days.

“I’m just trying to be more responsible on the whole with my finances,” Kathryn expresses.

“That’s part of the reason why I moved out of the [townhouse];” she adds.

Kathryn explains: “because it was too large of an amount of money to be spending when I need to be building savings.”

Kathryn admits that she had wanted to put down roots in the area.

But spending $6,600 is a lot of money, even for a reasonably affluent reality star — especially given her current situation.

“The custody case is costing me a lot financially,” Kathryn admits.

“So,” she adds. “I’m having to adult officially in every way.”

(As a Millennial, i felt that line in my very soul)

Her erstwhile abode is actually now on the market for $1.8 million.

Kathryn’s disgraced ex appears to be looking for a cash grab himself.

He has put his home, the Brooklyn Plantation, on the market — and the asking price is $3.9 million.

While the 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath home sounds nice, some wonder why he feels he can fetch more than $1 million over what he initially paid for it.

Well, the residence sits on 60 acres of land and measures a comfortable 4284 square feet.

The property also includes an eight-acre polo field, a two-story horse barn, and even a private two-bedroom apartment.

It’s hard to imagine leaving such a nice home — but Thomas would clearly prefer the money the sale will bring in.

It’s no mystery why both Kathryn and Thomas appear to be feeling a little strapped for cash at the moment.

The pair of reality stars are locked into a heated custody war over their two children, 3-year-old Saint and 5-year-old Kensie.

Until last year, the pair of them shared a 50/50 split, but now Kathryn wants sole custody of the children.

Her filing coincided with Thomas being accused of sexual assault by two women.

He has since been arrested and charged over one of the allegations.

Both bitter exes have accused the other of having serious drug problems.

One person who is never hurting for money is Patricia Altschul — everyone’s favorite Southern Charm star.

Now, Page Six is reporting that Patricia is being dragged into this custody battle.

The judge has ruled that she will need to give sworn testimony to the court.

She is also instructed to turn over any and all text messages — from Kathryn, from Thomas, and from Thomas’ ex-girlfriend.

All of this is over Patricia’s thorough objections, by the way.

She wanted to be left out of it, but the court is dragging her kicking and screaming into the mix.

Court battles are extremely expensive.

According to various online estimates, Thomas is considerably wealthier than Kathryn.

But he is fighting multiple battles. Remember, he’s not just trying to keep custody of the kids.

Thomas launched a legal battle against Bravo, claiming that the network had somehow engineered Kathryn’s custody war for ratings.

And he also has a criminal trial coming up, because he’s accused of rape.

Fortunes can and will run out if you don’t carefully pick your battles. Maybe Thomas realized that it was time to downsize.
