The former ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star stops by ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ to promote The CW’s ‘Katy Keene’ when a clip from her participation on the ‘American Idol’ spinoff is brought up.
AceShowbiz –Lucy Hale has reacted to her old performance when she became a contestant on a reality TV singing competition series “American Juniors”. The former “Pretty Little Liars” star reminisced her past as a singer wannabe during her appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday, February, 12.
During the interview, host Jimmy Kimmel played a clip from one of Hale’s performances when she sang “Call Me” by Debby Harry. Cringing at her own looks in the video, the 30-year-old actress couldn’t help remarking, “Look at that crimped hair, what a mess.” But Kimmel convinced her that she looked okay back then, saying, “You are perfectly cute there.”
Further recalling her time joining the singing competition series, the “Fantasy Island” star said, “This was 14 years ago, no, 16 years ago, I was 14 years old.” She continued talking about her “American Juniors” gig, which marked her first appearance on television, “I started in music. Ryan Seacrest was hosting it.” She noted though that the show didn’t go well because it was canceled after only one season.
Hale stopped by the ABC late-night talk show to promote her new TV series “Katy Keene“, on which she plays the titular character. A spin-off to “Riverdale“, it follows Hale’s character, an aspiring fashion designer trying to navigate her way in New York City. The musical comedy-drama series premiered on February 6 on The CW.
Hale is best known for her role as Aria Montgomery on “Pretty Little Liars”, which aired from 2010 to 2017 on ABC Family. Prior to that, she released an album in 2004 as part of a five-piece group American Juniors formed through the reality series. The group, however, disbanded in 2005 after their self-titled studio album’s lackluster sales. She then released her debut solo album titled “Road Between” in 2014, peaking at No. 14 on U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
