Pregnant Laura Anderson slams bump police as she hits back at mum-shamers

Laura Anderson called out the “bump police” on Friday as she posed for photos on a sunny holiday in the Maldives.

The former Love Island star, 33, is expecting her first child with actor Gary Lucy, 41, who she met on Celebs Go Dating last year – but the pair have since split.

The star has been counting down the days until her new arrival while enjoying a break with a pal at the luxury private island resort, Ayada Maldives.

Posing on the decking by her private pool in her accommodation, Laura beamed as she stood in front of a stunning sunset.

The star wore a peach-coloured silk dress and was barefoot in the photos, as she cradled her baby bump.

In the caption, she wrote: “Serene sunsets @ayadamaldivesresort. Cue the bump police.

“To the people that have some weirdly negative connotation with woman cradling their baby bump- I unfortunately will be growing a human inside of me for the next 5months and will more than likely not know where else to put my hands in a photo If this causes anyone severe distress or discomfort, please seek professional help or just get a b****y life.”

She added: “It is quite disturbing the amount of trolling a pregnant woman receives just by breathing these days. I’m not sure if people realise the stress they can cause BOTH parties.

"I know I’ve felt it, especially while going through a distressing break up which nobody actually knows the truth about.

“So lets back off and give mothers the peace and respect they deserve to focus on the physical and mental well-being of themselves and their unborn bundle of joy.”

Fans offered their support for Laura in the comments, with one writing: “Don't let them get you down, enjoy your pregnancy and keep cradling your bump!”

Another person added: “You look beautiful Laura put your hands wherever you want to , enjoy this special time”.

It’s not the first update Laura has posted from her sunny Maldives break, after she posted a photo of herself in a bikini earlier this month.

Laura wore a pair of pink sliders as she stood on the deck of her beach hut, enjoying the sunshine and the heat.

But some assumed that she had gotten back together with Gary Lucy as she'd gone on a seemingly "romantic" holiday.

One person said: "So pleased you’re back together have the best time", along with a red love heart.

Meanwhile another wondered if she had travelled alone following her recent break up.

Laura was quick to reply to the comments, however, saying she'd travelled "with my mate".

Reality star Laura and former Hollyoaks actor Gary met on Celebs Go Dating in August 2022, and were officially dating later that year.

On February 15, they announced Laura's pregnancy but later that same day news emerged of their shock split.

Laura didn't reveal details on their split, but she said tellingly: "I don't really want to get into this but there were loads of reasons…"

She continued: "The truth always comes out in the end, whatever.

"But I definitely did not tell Gary to move to Scotland," referring to rumours that she wanted him to leave Essex and his children there to raise their baby in Scotland.

Laura did, however, insist that Gary's four children will "one hundred percent" be part of their new sibling's life, as she said that she and Gary's ex-wife Natasha Gray, who is mum to his children, "have already spoken about it" and are "excited" for their children to be half-siblings.

Another fan asked if she and Gary were on good terms, and she gave an insight into the current state of their relationship as she widened her eyes sarcastically and said very firmly: "Definitely not."
