It’s been a tough year for Justin Bieber. He’s struggled with mental health issues, feuded with friends, faced widespread criticism for allegedly lip-syncing at Coachella, and more.
Throughout the ups and downs, his wife, Hailey Bieber has been by his side, cheering him on and supporting him to the fullest. A source close to the “Love Yourself” singer told People on July 8 that she’s actually the only thing that has gotten him through this rocky period.
She changed his life
The comments came just after the pair celebrated the first anniversary of its engagement. The singer proposed to the model in the Bahamas on July 7, 2018 (breaking the hearts of Beliebers all over, but that’s a story for another day). “It was very special for Justin to propose. He was so sure that Hailey is the one,” an insider explained.
They secretly tied the knot just two months later at a courthouse in New York. The source said Bieber is “even happier that they got married so quickly, too.” They added, “He can’t imagine life without Hailey. He feels like he wouldn’t have made it through this year without [her].”
Also, Bieber is loving the married life. “They still act like newlyweds,” the source continued. “Justin constantly surprises Hailey with gifts. She is always gushing about what a great husband he is.”
Hailey paid tribute to their anniversary on Instagram, writing, “Life gets more beautiful [every day] because of you, my heart belongs to you forever.”
We aren’t crying — our eyeballs are just sweating.
More celebrations are on the way
The Biebers are reportedly planning a second, larger wedding around their anniversary in September. A source told People the event will be a “celebration for family and friends.”
“Hailey is working with a planner,” the source continued. “They are both excited.”
They previously postponed the wedding planning so Bieber, who sought treatment for depression in February, could focus on his mental health. But now, the singer is reportedly “doing well” and getting back to it.
“[Justin] keeps getting treatments and working on maintaining a good mental health,” the source added. “He is producing music but taking things slowly. He is learning how to manage his life better just in general.”
Marriage isn’t all peachy, though
The model herself has admitted that things can get tough sometimes. She told Vogue in February, “Marriage is very hard. … It’s really effing hard.”
Many people would probably agree, and that’s why Bieber is reportedly working on becoming the best husband. Sources told People that Hailey was even a factor in his decision to seek treatment for his mental health struggles.
“He wants to be the best possible husband for Hailey,” the source said. “It’s one thing to have your issues when you’re single, but when you’re married, there’s two people’s happiness at stake. He’s working on himself so that he can be a good partner to her.”
OK, excuse us. Now, our eyes are leaking uncontrollably.
But in all seriousness, it’s nice to see that the Biebers are going strong. Here’s wishing them many more years of love, peace, and happiness.
