Willy Wonka star Denise Nickerson, 62, taken off life support by family year after stroke

Denise Nickerson, who played Violet in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, was diagnosed with pneumonia on Monday, her family have revealed.

The following day, the actress suffered a massive seizure and doctors put Denise on life support.

However, Denise’s family said they have now taken her off the respirator and removed IV drops to stop giving her medicine.

They said it’s now a “a matter of time” before Denise dies.

Her son, Josh, has started a fundraising page to raise money for funeral costs.

On the GoFundMe page, Josh and his wife, Jasmine, said: “We are heartbroken and reliving a grief we’ve lived every single day since she had the stroke over a year ago.”

They continued: “We don’t know how much time she has. It could be minutes. It could be hours. But no matter what, she’s already gone.

“We are sitting here with her just trying to keep her comfortable and let her know it’s okay.”
