Donald Trump branded ‘heartless’ for ignoring Melania on Mothers Day

Donald Trump’s ‘lovely wife’ complimented by Farage

Donald Trump has been branded “heartless” after he failed to mention his wife Melania Trump, the mother to his youngest child Barron, in his Mother’s Day post.

Instead, the former president took to his social media platform Truth Social in order to speak about the mothers of “Radical Left Fascists.”

Mr Trump posted: “Happy Mother’s Day to ALL, in particular the Mothers, Wives and Lovers of the Radical Left Fascists, Marxists, and Communists who are doing everything within their power to destroy and obliterate our once great Country.” (sic)

He continued: “Please make these complete Lunatics and Maniacs Kinder, Gentler, Softer and, most importantly, Smarter, so that we can, quickly, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” (sic)

The post has been described as “sad” by people on Twitter, who have criticised Mr. Trump for not taking the time to think of his family during the holiday.

One person wrote: “Trump literally wished his haters and perceived enemies a Happy Mother’s Day, but forgot to even mention his wife and the mother of his son.”

Someone else said: “It’s beyond sad and exasperating that Trump can’t muster a simple and dignified Happy Mother’s Day. That is all that’s required.”

A third user said: “Donald Trump didn’t wish Happy Mother’s Day to any of his wives…he’s heartless.”

Mr. Trump has been married three times. He separated from his first wife Ivana Trump in 1990, and she was the mother of Mr Trump’s three oldest children, Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr, and Ivanka Trump.

He later married Marla Maples and had his daughter Tiffany Trump, but the couple divorced in 1999, and has been married to his current partner Melania for 18 years, since the couple got married in 2005.

However, other Twitter users have been quick to defend Mr. Trump, stating it is not known if he celebrated Mother’s Day in private.

One person wrote: “Who cares, it’s their business” while another person said: “Melania is not bothered, I’m sure of it.”

A second person else said: “Have you all considered that Donald Trump didn’t put it on social media, but rather spoke to her in person so it was more meaningful.”

Somebody else said: “It’s below the belt to make comments on his wife. Perhaps Donald professed his appreciation to her first, in a more intimate setting.”

However, one person added: “I’m not political and don’t know their personal lives, but it is strange that Obama can take the time to appreciate his wife on Mother’s Day but Trump can’t. I think it says a lot about [their] characters.”

Barack Obama posted on social media this weekend to “take a moment to appreciate” his wife, Michelle Obama, the mother of his daughters Malia and Sasha.

The former president wrote: “Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you take a moment to appreciate all the moms and mother figures in your life – and be there for people who may be missing theirs.

“To Michelle Obama, thanks for being such an amazing mom to our beautiful girls. You set an incredible example for all of us.”

Alongside the Twitter post, Mr. Obama posted a picture of Michelle and their daughter, as well as a picture of Michelle’s mother, Marian Shields Robinson.

People on Twitter praised Mr. Obama for the post, as one person wrote: “What a fantastic image. You and your family are a credit to the nation and office you held.”

A second person wrote: “What a beautiful, loving family!” while another commentator said: “America is proud of you and your gorgeous family.”

Another user said: “Your pride in your family is magnificent to behold, You will always be my favourite First Family!”
