TikTok is a gold mine for beauty hacks and bargain products, from Dyson Airwrap alternatives to this affordable nose contouring trick. One of the latest to go viral is a hair stylist’s trick for people with thin or fine hair types.
Posted by creator Quinty Mirjam de Vries, the clip demonstrates a messy bun method that works to make thinner hair appear more voluminous.
The trick involves creating a small bun at the base of a ponytail before loosely plaiting the lengths and winding them around the initial bun, for a fuller look that doesn’t require the assistance of a hair doughnut.
At the time of writing the clip has racked up a whopping 4.8 million views and over 330,000 likes, with hundreds of beauty fans flocking to the comments section to share their thoughts.
“THANK YOU! I have really long hair and it’s so hard,” one said, while another added, “That’s soo helpful.”
Meanwhile a third agreed, “Love this! Gonna try it out” as a fourth chimed in with “Ok I think I can do this one!”
However, not everybody was convinced that the hack would truly work on thin hair. “Still waiting for the lady with the thin hair to show up,” one wrote. Another added, “But that’s not thin hair tho.”
But as some users pointed out, Quinty is showcasing how the hack works to demonstrate the method for those with thin hair, not saying that her own hair is very thin.
“She didn’t say she had [thin hair]. She does a hairstyle FOR thin hair,” one user wrote.
Meanwhile the creator herself posted, “I’ve never said what kind of hair type I have, this is just a hairstyle that works great for fine/thin hair.”
Several people in the comments also noted that they had thin hair and the method had worked for them when they tried it.
Of course, this isn’t the only beauty find to go viral recently. Beauty fans have shared several alternatives to the popular but pricey Dyson Airwrap tool, including this £35 Amazon version and these £1 rollers.
Meanwhile one thrifty shopper revealed that Real Techniques brushes and sponges were on sale from just 99p at Home Bargains.
