From lattes to beauty treatments — recycle your pumpkin leftovers this Halloween

HALLOWEEN fun and games will be more indoors than out this year. But you and the kids can still have a great time getting creative.

Here’s a few ideas for things to do with pumpkin leftovers . . .

PUMPKIN LATTE: Blend the pulp with cinnamon, nutmeg and whatever other warming spices you have, and use as a base to add coffee and milk to. So easy and tasty.

SNACK ATTACK: Roast those pumpkin seeds and you’ve got a tasty savoury snack. Rinse, dry, salt and add herbs, then cook in the oven, on a low heat, for 30 minutes. So simple — and delicious.

HOGWARTS JUICE: Go all Harry Potter and make your own pumpkin juice, turning dinner time into a Hogwarts-style feast. Simply mash up your pulp, add some water and strain. I’d add orange or apple juice to improve the taste — and it helps toward your five-a-day.

YOU BEAUTY: Homemade beauty treatments are all the rage and pumpkins are rich in valuable vitamins. Blend, mix with honey and smear on your face before rinsing for a jack ’o’ lantern glow of your own. I’ve seen bloggers swear that if you add yoghurt to this mixture, it makes a great hair mask, too.

  • Oh, and do please send me some photos of your pumpkin designs, at Facebook.com/TheSunSavers — I always enjoy them.
