DEAR DEIDRE: I STRUGGLE to last long enough to make having sex with my girlfriend worthwhile and it is really starting to get me down.
It all started happening a year ago. It is such a struggle not to climax almost from the beginning.
I am 24 and my girlfriend is 22. We’ve been together for 15 months.
I really fancy her and would have had sex straight away but she wanted to wait a little.
I've never managed to last. At first I laughed it off saying my girlfriend was too gorgeous but it’s beyond embarrassing now.
My girlfriend hasn’t complained but surely it is only a matter of time.
I worry she will leave me and find someone else if I can’t sort this out.
Are there any self-help techniques or anything the doctor can do to help before I lose my dream girl?
DEIDRE SAYS: It is completely normal for a young man not to be a master of total sexual control so don’t panic.
If your relationship is strong, she won’t dump you just because of this.
Your problem is almost certainly down to anxiety. You are tense and anxious, having got into a pattern of worrying about letting her down.
My support pack Want To Last Longer explains self-help.
