Injuries and suspensions update ahead of Dream Team Game Week 12 – Man City midfield problems

DREAM TEAM brings you all the latest injury and suspension news ahead of Game Week 12 in one easily digestible dose.

First things first, Pep Guardiola dropped several bombshells during his Friday press conference.

The Manchester City boss revealed Kevin De Bruyne (£5.4m) tested positive for Covid-19 at the back end of the international break and will have to isolate for ten days.

Additionally, Jack Grealish (£4.4m) is not expected to participate in Sunday’s lunchtime kick-off against Everton despite returning from international duty in ‘better’ condition.

To compound the problem, it’s not clear whether Phil Foden (£5.7m) will feature against the Toffees after reporting a problem in his leg upon his return from England’s latest squad.

Rather cryptically, Guardiola said ‘we will see’ when asked if the in-form 21-year-old would play this weekend.

There are rumours that Roberto Firmino (£3.9m) will be sidelined until mid-December as he recovers from the hamstring injury he suffered during Liverpool’s win over Atletico Madrid at the start of the month.

Jurgen Klopp did not give a concrete timescale for the Brazilian’s recovery, simply saying the rehabilitation would ‘take a little bit longer still’.

In better news, the German gaffer said that Sadio Mane (£5.4m) was ‘fine’ despite experiencing some discomfort from a bruised rib.

A late decision will be made regarding both Jordan Henderson (£2.8m) and Andy Robertson’s (£3.6m) availability.

Youri Tielemans (£3.4m), the joint-sixth best midfielder at the time of writing, will be out ‘for a few weeks’ after incurring a calf issue against Leeds before the international break.

The Belgian has been virtually an ever-present in the last two years and will be a big miss for the Foxes in the coming weeks.

Arsenal are waiting another day to assess the fitness of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£5.5m) and Thomas Partey (£2.2m) – the former returned from international duty early while the latter wasn’t able to represent Ghana in a decisive fixture for the Black Stars.

Antonio Conte has a number of availability issues ahead of his first home Premier League game in charge of Spurs.

Argentine pair Cristian Romero (£2.6m) and Giovani Lo Celso (£2.0m) both picked up niggles during the break that will prevent their involvement against Leeds on Sunday.

Oliver Skipp (£0.7m) is suspended for the fixture while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (£2.4m) will be assessed after training.

Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Romelu Lukaku (£5.8m) is progressing well but that he believed it was best to not to rush the Belgian forward back to action.

The German stated Lukaku may ‘join the group on the bench’ midweek against Juventus – suggesting the striker won’t feature at all against Leicester this weekend.

Bruno Lage told reporters he won’t take a risk with Raul Jimenez (£3.6m) but the Mexico international returned on Thursday afternoon and trained on Friday: “We’ll take the best decisions for tomorrow.”
