An prudent Australian woman has wowed her friends on Facebook by explaining how anyone can save hundreds to make Christmas incredible.

She has showed everyone how they can make $1,100 appear without trying – and all they need is a money tin!

The bank balance booster couldn't come at a better time with December always the most costly month for families.

The woman is known only as Courtney and she has taken the internet by storm – revealed just how she keeps the cash, around £600, firmly in her pocket.

"So I am definitely not a saver, but I made it my New Year's resolution to save for Christmas this year," she posted.

"The first week of the year, I went and bought a money tin that I couldn't open.

"Each week when I did my grocery shopping I asked for $25 cash out – because I thought I wouldn't notice an extra $25 on top of our groceries.

"Then I would return home and straight put the notes and coins inside the tin.

"I just opened it and I now have $1,125 (£600) for Christmas!"

She was showered with praise for the simple technique which will certainly make this year's present buying a bit easier.

One said: "What an amazing idea!"

Another put: "I'm going to try this for next year for sure!"

A third added: "Not only Christmas, but the car rego, insurance and service for the car."
