Rob Lowe was photographed looking impressively buff over the weekend for a beach day in Santa Barbara, Calif., near where he lives.
The 57-year-old star was snapped strolling along the sand and cooling off in the water wearing bright swim trunks and no shirt.
Clearly staying in shape is a Lowe family tradition. On Saturday, the “Park and Recreation” star shared a video on Instagram of his father, Chuck, doing some push-ups. Rob then panned back to himself announcing, “Working out with the 81-year-old man, my pops – inspiration.”
On March 17, the star celebrated his 57th birthday and showed fans how he’s aging — like a fine wine — by posting side-by-side snaps of himself 39 years ago and now.
“18th birthday on the set of The Outsiders. 57th on the set of 911 Lonestar. In between have been amazing gifts professionally and personally,” he captioned the pics. “I am a grateful man. Thank you for the birthday wishes. Means a lot. Love you all!”
But Lowe is often the target of some light-hearted teasing on his Instagram account as well. His younger son John, who is sober like his dad, delights in poking fun at his famous father, often making snarky comments. For his dad’s birthday John jokingly posted a beefcake photo of John Stamos and wrote, “Happy birthday, pops. Here’s to many more adventures together. Love ya.”
Beach days are a regular occurrence for the “St. Elmo’s Fire” star. Late last year he sold his lavish Montecito estate — located in Santa Barbara County — for $44.5 million but moved into another property in the wealthy enclave. His new home is a short walk from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s digs.
He told James Corden in a recent chat that the royal “lives about a mile from me. He’s been very reclusive; seeing him in the neighborhood is like seeing the Loch Ness Monster.”
