Tesco make change to Clubcard reward system – everything customers need to know

Tesco Clubcard is a popular way to help customers save money on everyday goods. However, the reward system can also be used on added extras like saving money on other retailers as well as restaurants. Clubcard holders should be aware of the change coming to the system at the beginning of the new year.

Tesco’s Clubcard is one of the most popular loyalty schemes in the UK along with other rivals like Sainsbury’s Nectar Card and M&S’ Sparks Card.

They are a great way of building up points that can be spent in-store and online.

However, there is a change coming to the system that Clubcard holders should be aware of.

Tesco is now ending its partnership with Now TV.

At the moment, customers can spend their collected points on Now TV credit with it tripling in value.

From January, the deal will no longer be available for shoppers and they won’t be able to exchange their points for Now TV credit.

If customers already had some credit, that will still be valid up until the expiration date supplied in the email sent when exchanged.

A statement on the Tesco website reads: “Unfortunately, NOW TV will leave the Clubcard scheme on 31 January 2021.

“You will be able to exchange your Clubcard vouchers until this date and any vouchers you receive must be redeemed before the expiry date included in your latest email.”

However, customers can still benefit from all of the other promotions that Tesco offers its shoppers.

For example, at the moment Clubcard holders can benefit from their Clubcard Price scheme which sees hundreds of products on a price cut.
When shopping in-store, customers will see a small red sign to indicate which products are in the offer.

Products include toiletries, frozen food as well as a huge range of fresh food.

Alessandra Bellini, Tesco Chief Customer Officer said: “We know that great value matters to customers more than ever before, that’s why, to reward our loyal customers, we’re offering everyone with a Tesco Clubcard access to hundreds of exclusive deals.

“We’re also offering everyday low prices on hundreds of products so that customers can get clear and consistent prices on the products they buy regularly.”

When using a Tesco Clubcard, customers receive one point for every £1 spent in-store or online and one point for every £2 spent on fuel from the retailer.

Points are then added to an account, and 150 points is equal to £1.50.

These points can then be exchanged for vouchers to be spent in Tesco stores or towards discounts on any of Tesco’s partnerships.

In other Tesco news, the supermarket giant is implanting extended shopping hours in the lead up to Christmas.

Over 300 stores will be open 24 hours a day from December 14 to Christmas Eve with many other stores extending hours to be open from 5am.

There are currently a handful of stores across the country on trial for keeping them open 24 hours ahead of the Christmas period.

The retailer also recently released its Christmas delivery slots for customers wanting to shop online this year.
