The Wanted’s Tom Parker shares details on baby boy Bodhi

Tom Parker and wife Kelsey Hardwick opened up about life with their newborn son Bodhi amid The Wanted rocker’s ongoing battle with cancer in a new interview.

“It was so nice. I cried my eyes out!” 32-year-old Parker recently told OK! UK (via The Sun) while reflecting on the first time he held his baby boy.

Hardwick, 30, agreed that it was a very emotional moment for the family.

“Tom’s emotional anyway, and I’m the harder one…But I was so overwhelmed when he was born, because it happened so quickly,” she told the mag. “When the baby’s on you, you’re like, ‘I can’t believe it!’ We were all crying.”

The couple, who also share 16-month-old daughter Aurelia Rose, explained how dissimilar the two siblings are from each other.

“[Bohdi is] so chilled,” Parker said in the interview, adding, “He’s so different to Aurelia – she was always very active.”

Hardwick said that naming him Bodhi was her choice, explaining the name “means enlightenment, so it just goes perfectly with our situation right now. He’s the light at the end of our tunnel.”

The pair also revealed the birth story, saying that Hardwick’s water broke while she was watching “The Only Way is Essex.”

“At 10 p.m. my water broke and then nothing happened,” she said. “I rang my mom and she said, ‘Get some sleep, then ring me.’ I rang her at 7 a.m. and said, ‘Nothing’s happened.’”

She continued, “I rang the midwife, they came and checked me because I really wanted a home birth, but there was no sign of the baby.”

Hardwick was taken to the hospital where she was induced and the birth took 30 minutes. Luckily for Parker, he was able to be there for the birth despite COVID-19 hospital restrictions.

“The NHS was absolutely amazing,” she said.”He was there the whole time. They even allowed him to stay over the night!”

In October, Parker’s bandmate Max George confirmed they’d welcomed their second child. Earlier that month, Parker announced that he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

“We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way,” the British singer wrote on social media at the time. “We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options. It’s gonna be a tough battle but with everyone’s love and support we are going to beat this.”

Parker and Hardwick got married in 2018.
