A 55-year-old nun has gone viral on TikTok after sharing her simple skincare routine, leaving the app users stunned by her glowing, youthful complexion.

In the viral video Sister Monica, from New Jersey, USA, explains that she uses Aveeno’s ultra gentle baby shampoo and body wash (£3.99 here) on her skin and has never spent much money on expensive beauty products.

She also carries a parasol and stays out of the sun wherever possible, which will limit her exposure to skin-ageing UV rays.

"A bunch of really nice ladies have left comments on here saying that they think I look a lot younger than I am," she explained in the TikTok clip. "I just want to say thank you, that’s really nice."

"People have been sending me direct messages asking what my skincare routine is, which is really hilarious to me because I don’t really have one!"

"But maybe, I think I know what you’re talking about, I think I probably have a few less wrinkles than some people my age because I can’t go out in the sun. Seriously, since the late 1990s, I haven’t been able to go out in the sun."

Sister Monica added that she always shoots her videos in good, low lighting, and has racked up more than 1,000 comments as users express their disbelief that she isn’t in her thirties.

One exclaimed: "I thought you were for SURE mid 30s! Natural beauty".

Another commented, "I was gonna bring up SPF! Do sisters usually wear it? It’s important,” to which the nun replied, “Yes. The sisters are SPF users."

Meanwhile a third user joked about the cause of Sister Monica’s glowing skin, writing, "It’s because she doesn’t constantly deal with men’s audacity," in reference to her religious lifestyle.

Appearing on This Morning this week, Sister Monica told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford that a friend had encouraged her to join the video-sharing app.

“I only got on TikTok because this friend said ‘you know, it’s not just for 12-year-old kids,’” she explained.

Well, if ever there was an ad for baby products being suitable for all ages…
