Dixie Crush country singer Lindsey Lagestee dies aged 25 in car accident

Dixie Crush country singer Lindsey Lagestee has died at the age of 25.

The musician was en route to a performance in Illinois when she was struck by a car on Friday.

Lagestee co-founded the cover band Dixie Crush back in 2015, with the group touring the states performing renditions of country classics.

The group broke the tragic news over Facebook, saying: “Some of you may have already heard the terrible news, but It is with the heaviest of hearts, we sadly share that Lindsey Renee passed away on Monday due to complications from the accident last Friday.

“Our hearts are broken over this senseless tragedy."

Her bandmate Jim Nonneman told Taste of Country the accident happened when she was crossing the road in Chicago.

He said: "She had just parked a couple of blocks down for the club we were scheduled to play.

"She exited her pickup truck and was making her way to the venue when she was struck by a car."

Lagestee was rushed to hospital but died from her injuries three days after the accident.
