Linda Lusardi, 62, admits children needed therapy after her Covid battle

Linda Lusardi has revealed her children needed therapy after her battle with Covid left her "at death’s door".

The 62-year-old is a mother-of-two to Lucy, 25, and Jack, 22.

She was admitted to hospital in March 2020 suffering from severe Covid symptoms, and had to be put on oxygen.

The former Page 3 model also faced the daunting prospect of being intubated, with one doctor saying they would be unable to guarantee her survival.

Linda said the virus was so awful that she "wanted to die".

And her husband Sam Kane was also taken to hospital after contracting it and developing pneumonia.

But Lucy and Jack needed therapy to help them process the trauma and fears that their mum would not make it home.

Ahead of the launch of her new YouTube series Beauty Angels – in which Linda teams up with actress Debbie Arnold to discuss new beauty treatments – she opened up about her Covid battle.

"I did think about therapy but I didn’t in the end. I got to talk about it a lot in interviews and I think it was actually worse for people around me because I didn’t realise how bad I was.

"I think my husband Sam should have some because he still gets flashbacks about me not coming home and the fear and trauma he went through thinking I wouldn’t make it," she continued.

"Both Lucy and Jack had a short patch of therapy. They’re absolutely brilliant now."

Meanwhile, hubby Sam admitted he had a "meltdown" last year and had to be held back by doctors after his wife texted him to say she was near death.

It took her eight months to recover, but Linda admitted she still struggles with tiredness as an after-effect of the virus.

She also suffered hair loss and fears that she has been left with liver damage as she can no longer stomach alcohol.

"Since Covid I can’t drink. I can’t drink alcohol so it makes me wonder if I have slight liver damage," she admitted.

Despite her struggles with Covid, in November last year the ex-Emmerdale actress revealed she had concerns about the Pfizer vaccine – and said she would not take it.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Linda said: "I'm not against people having a vaccine and I'm sure the majority of people will have the vaccine.

"My concern is there hasn’t been enough testing done […] I'm really excited that there is one but I don't feel there's been enough research so far for people like me to have a vaccine."

But Dr Hilary Jones explained why the vaccine is safe, having been carried out on 50,000 people in six different countries at the time.

It has since been reported that the vaccine is 95 percent effective in preventing symptomatic COVID-19 and its severe outcomes – with others, like the AstraZeneca jab, also on offer.
