Rhian Sugden says Vernon Kay sexy messaging scandal ‘ruined everything’ for her

Rhian Sugden has admitted that her messaging scandal with Vernon Kay left her career in tatters while he seemed to get away with it.

Rhian, 34, was revealed to have been one of the women married Vernon admitted to have been messaging back in 2010.

The blonde beauty feels 46-year-old Vernon was forgiven by the public, whereas she found that her work dried up as result of her involvement.

Speaking during an interview on the Channel 4 documentary Page Three: The Naked Truth in June, Rhian admitted: "It was awful. My whole family must have been so embarrassed, and he just got away with it."

Vernon, who is married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly, admitted sending "flirty messages" the Page 3 girl every day for four months after meeting her in a club in Bolton.

The dad-of-two also confessed to exchanging racy texts with "four or five girls" around that same time – but denied things had ever gone beyond messaging.

"It ruined everything for me. I feel like I was going up and up and up with my career and then when that came along I wish I’d never met him," Rhian continued.

"He just got to give an apology to his wife on the radio and that was it for him."

Vernon made a very public apology to Tess, 51, during his Radio 1 show, telling listeners: "I’ve let down my wife Tess. I’m an idiot. I’ve been stupid and daft but I’m not a sex pest."

Speaking about what happened between them, Rhian added: "There was an attraction there for both of us and I was a Page 3 girl and he was Vernon Kay, he’s a good-looking fella.

"He came to Manchester and that was the first night we met and then things just stemmed from there. It was a lot of bravado on text, from him, probably when he’d had a drink.

"That was like 12 years ago I think, and it still makes me feel physically sick."

Meanwhile, Vernon said that the scandal was a blessing in disguise.

"In some ways I’m glad this story has come out," the former Family Fortunes host said.

"It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulder.

"I knew it was getting silly. I’m never going to do it again and hopefully I can clear the slate clean and start again. I’m so sorry. I’ve been an idiot and I’ve let my family down."

The former T4 host is currently starring in this year's series of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

A few days ago, viewers saw him in tears as he opened a package that had been sent from his family.

Vernon was left wiping away his tears, making it clear he was struggling to spend time apart from his wife and their two daughters.

Tess and the girls had sent him a grey checkered blanket, knowing he likes to cosy up under a rug while watching telly.
