Ben Shephard red-faced as pole-dancing throwback aired on GMB ‘Tricky telling the wife!’

GMB: Ben Shephard recalls pole dancing with Dannii Minogue

Susanna Reid spent today’s instalment of Good Morning Britain showcasing her co-host’s Ben Shephard’s dancing skills. Throughout the ITV show, the presenter teased the Tipping Point star by reminding him about various occasions where he showed off his moves. However, one particular pole-dancing memory left extremely Ben red-faced and having to explain the situation.

Susanna said: “We have quite a few examples [of Ben dancing] for anybody who didn’t realise Ben Shephard qualified to do Strictly Come Dancing because he did a degree in dance which he admitted to Kate Thornton in her podcast.

“It’s come as an enormous surprise to many people but not to those of us who know what a fantastic dancer he is.

“And somebody has just been in touch with Ben to say you have missed out the most impressive piece of dancing which is went pole-dancing with Danni Minogue.”

“Oh, we can find it in the archives though,” Susanna smirked.

“You can’t get away with anything these days, can you?” Ben hit back “I think that was the issue at the time as well.

“Danni was single at the time so she was pole-dancing and she invited me along.”

“You mean her musical single,” Susanna interrupted and Ben clarified: “She wasn’t single!”

“Can I just say as well by the way the tricky thing about that was explaining the thigh burns to my wife when I got home,” Ben shared.

“She was like, ‘What have you done at work today?’ and….”

Susanna interjected: “‘I went pole dancing with Danni Minogue of course’ that’s very impressive thigh strength.”

“Pole-fit,” Ben began before Susanna sarcastically jumped in: “Is a legitimate exercise!”

“It is,” Ben hit back. “Pole-fit is some of the toughest core control that you can have and that was a happy memory.

“Remember the good old days where you could go pole-dancing with pop stars.”

“No,” Susanna quipped. “But I’m looking forward to them returning.”

Earlier in the show, Susanna encouraged fans to send in their memories of Ben showcasing his moves.

She had been reminded of the pole-dancing clip by a viewer who tweeted: “@benshephard @susannareid100 what about your pole-dancing routine with @DanniiMinogue for Put the Needle on it?”

Ben took to Twitter to thank the GMB viewer as he tweeted: “Ahhh happy days!! Although explaining the thigh burns to Mrs S was v v tricky!”

GMB fans found the clip amusing as one replied: “Did she really accept ‘darling, I’ve been pole-dancing with [Danni]?’”

“Is there anything our SuperBen can’t do? @benshephard,” another added.
