‘Devastated’ Lucy Fallon heartbroken at exiting Corrie – but she won’t rule out Strictly

Coronation Street will be saying goodbye to several residents this autumn as the actors and actress leaving their characters behind to embark on new opportunities.

One of those is Lucy Fallon who currently plays Bethany Platt on the fan-favourite soap.

Earlier this morning, she appeared on ITV’s Lorraine and told the host about her current storyline and how she feels about departing.

In recent scenes, Corrie fans have seen Bethany dragged into a love triangle with Daniel Osbourne (played by Rob Mallard) and Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn).

The Bistro waitress has developed strong feelings for Daniel, despite him being married to Sinead who is currently battling cervical cancer.

Lorraine asked whether or not Bethany really loves Daniel and Lucy explained: “Bethany has been through a lot in the last couple of years.

“She works with Daniel in the Bistro and he has really been there for her. I think what has happened is accidental, she’s not a bad person and doesn’t want to hurt him or Sinead.

“But she has properly fallen in love with him,” the actress continued.

As for how she feels to be leaving Bethany behind, fans needn’t worry because she is on screen until March next year.

“It’s going to be horrible,” Lucy revealed. “When I leave, I’ll have been there for five years and it just feels like the right time.

“I’m going to miss everyone so much, I can’t even properly think about it because its’ really upsetting. I’m exited I’m nervous we’ll see what happens.”

Lorraine added: “I think its a really good idea to do that, spread your wings see what’s out there, hopefully keep the door open if you so wish?”

“I’ve literally had the best time. I am going to be devastated but hopefully they’ll keep me in the group chats and things!” Lucy joked.

“Coming next, I guess the world is open for you to see what jobs come around?” The host replied.

“Yes we’ll see,” Lucy replied. “I’ve got nothing lined up at the moment but we’ll see.”

Lorraine was keen to find out whether or not she would consider taking part in a reality show like many of her co-stars have and currently are doing.

“Would you do any of the Strictly thing?” Lorraine probed and Lucy said: “I don’t know. I think I’d like to focus more on doing the acting, dramas and things. And maybe in the future I could do something like that.”

Tonight, ITV viewers are going to tune in to see Daniel and Sinead’s honeymoon plans scuppered when they received devastating news from the hospital

Meanwhile Ali Neeson (James Burrows) is left fuming when his dealer is arrested.

Coronation Street returns tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
