EastEnders’ Mick (played by Danny Dyer) has become a favourite on the BBC soap since joining in 2013. Fans were left heartbroken to discover he’d soon be making an exit from the soap though after the actor and BBC confirmed it last week. In upcoming scenes though, he is set to be publicly humiliated at his home and place of work. Feeling ashamed and still devastated over his split with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Mick might decide to sell The Vic as he starts to move on. Could the favourite character spend his final months on the soap away from the iconic pub?
Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) was recently kicked out of The Vic by Mick, who’d been trying to help her out when she had nowhere else to go.
The notorious trouble-maker is still up to her old tricks, though.
In future episodes, she tries to use Mick as a way of getting social workers to think of her as a fit mother to Scarlett (Tabitha Byron).
Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) tell Janine that the social workers are assessing Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) regarding Scarlett.
This makes Janine beg Mick to let her use The Vic’s address, and he agrees.
Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) is embarrassed when she sees Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) completing his community payback.
He bumps into Janine, who takes pleasure in his plight.
Later at the car lot, the social worker, Claire, asks him for a character reference for Janine, and he sees it as his chance to get back at her.
He enjoys describing Janine’s true colours to the shocked social worker.
In the pub, Jay informs Janine what he told the social worker about her history.
Later, Mick is concerned about what Jay has done, but Janine doesn’t seem too bothered.
She brushes off her past indiscretions and is confident it won’t have made a difference.
Trying to use Mick, she subtly asks him to pretend to be her partner ahead of her meeting with the social worker.
Schoolgirl Scarlett angrily tells Janine the reason she is ignoring her is that she knows her mother’s Christmas antics were only to get one over the Slaters.
Feeling sorry for her, Mick soon agrees to Janine’s request, but he is adamant that no one must know.
Unfortunately, Jay realises that Mick is helping Janine with the social worker.
He decides to berate him at the pub in front of everyone and accuses the two of having an affair.
Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) overhears and assumes he is talking about Rainie Highway (Tanya Franks).
Upstairs, Janine’s meeting with Claire starts off going well.
Will Janine play along with the rumours and pretend her and Mick are really together?
It wouldn’t be unlike her to take advantage of someone’s kindness to get her own way.
She might end up confirming to the locals that Mick has been cheating with her.
With most of the Walford residents wary of Janine, they might change their opinions of Mick.
They know he and Linda have recently split up and have been feeling sorry for him, but they don’t know the details.
Frustrated with his neighbours judging him because of Janine, and struggling in the Vic without Linda, could Mick decide it’s time to move on?
He could end up putting The Vic up for sale and trying to move on with his life.
With the character leaving later this year, it makes sense that he might slowly ease away from being at the centre of show in the pub before he makes an exit.
But who could become the new landlord of the main feature of the soap?
EastEnders continues on Friday at 8pm on BBC One.
