Sharon (played by Letitia Dean) is one of the longest-serving characters on EastEnders, having seen the introduction and exits of hundreds of characters over the years. At this point, it is her birthright to still be living on the Square and should therefore have a say in the future of Walford. However, as she sets her plans in motion in upcoming scenes on the BBC soap, it seems she could be set to lock horns with Suki (Balvinder Sopal) but which resident will come out on top for the takeover of Albert Square?

The drama kicks off next week as Jada Lennox (Kelsey Calladine-Smith) reappears in Walford, having handed over her daughter Alyssa to her grandmother Sharon.

Having spent the last few weeks bonding with the youngster, the Walford legend has finally got her head around her later son Denny Rickman (Bleu Landau) being the child’s father.

With the help of her brother, Zack Hudson (James Farrar), the stalwart has managed to look after the baby, her own son Albie Watts and run a business.

However, she knows in order to gain shared custody of Alyssa and to have Jada around more often, she needs to move house.

More income would be a bonus as well and so the iconic character begins to think of ways she could combine the two and this is where Suki comes in.

As Ruby Allen’s (Louise Lytton) house is vacant, Sharon eyes up the property as a new home for her ever-expanding family.

She could possibly buy the deeds to the house as well as keeping the flat to rent out to private tenants, allowing her to build up a little trust fund.

Unfortunately, her brother Zak isn’t completely on board with the plans as he feels his sister is jumping the gun a bit.

He could warn her becoming the next supreme landlord of the Square could have huge repercussions for her going into the future.

This could be because Suki would cause a whole lot of mischief for Sharon to ensure the mother of two keeps her nose out of other people’s business.

It was a very fitting cliffhanger

Since arriving on the Square in 2020, Suki and her family having been buying up property in and around Walford and has rented them out to residents of the Square.

Namely, the Slater family are now living in a property which the Panesar matriarch bought from Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) earlier this year.

Suki could also have her eyes on Ruby’s house as another property to add to her portfolio but Sharon could be a hurdle in the way.

Having not had any competition in the past, the ruthless businesswoman could be seething to know she has got a rival in her bid to take over the Square.

If Sharon begins to click on to what her rival is doing, she could make it her mission to get her hands on as much property as possible in Walford.

Suki has had a problem with Sharon since she discovered the mother of two was sleeping with her son, Kheerat Panesar (Jazzer’s Deol).

The pair ended their dalliance when the Panesar matriarch discovered what they were up to and have not slept together since.

Knowing Suki ruined her chance of happiness with the businessman, Sharon could take it upon herself to buy up more property in Walford out of revenge.

Spitting feathers at the prospect of having a business rival, Suki would try every trick in the book to ensure she comes out on top.

But with deep roots on the Square and a few associates to calling’s favours from, will Sharon beat her and ensure Walford is protected?

Viewers will remember last year, Sharon was back behind the bar of the Queen Vic pub after she and her husband, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) bought the establishment.

The stalwart went on to sell it back to Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) before moving into their old flat and buying the deeds to the Walford gym.

However, with the owners of the pub having money troubles recently, the iconic character could sweep in and take it from under them again.

This would begin a massive game of monopoly as the stalwart would be collecting property after property in her bid to make sure Walford sticks to its roots.

With no more property to buy, will Suki make an exit from the Square as she decides she can’t match her rivals bidding?

Before the show went off the air last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, it had just been revealed Sharon was the new owner of the pub.

Discussing the moment, the actress who plays the iconic character, Letitia, said: “When we filmed that scene we obviously didn’t know we’d be coming off the air so it was a very fitting cliffhanger!

“The Queen Vic means so much to Sharon, she grew up there. And after the year she had losing Denny and everything that happened with the baby, this was exactly what she needed.

“Even though not all the memories are positive at the Vic it’s where she belongs. She needed to be at home,” the actress told RadioTimes.com.

However, will she be back behind the bar sooner than she ever thought?

EastEnders continues tonight at 7:30pm on BBC One.
