Liv (played by Isobel Steele) has had a turbulent year on Emmerdale following the death of villain Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale) which subsequently led to her alcohol relapse. In recent weeks, she has continued to push her loved ones away. So much so her brother, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), was going to leave the village with his boyfriend Ben (Simon Lennon) to get away from her. However, with the latter ending up dead in the latest episode of the ITV soap and with the teenager in a drunken state during their final confrontation, will she believe she was the one who murdered him and hand herself in to the police?

This week’s instalments of the weeknight serial drama have seen the youngster do everything in her power to stop her brother from leaving.

The youngster committed a big betrayal as when a potential new employee rang The Hop to get Ben’s reference from Kim Tate (Claire King), Liv answered the phone.

She ended up making Aaron’s boyfriend miss out on the role and this was something neither he or her brother could forgive.

Unfortunately, as the situation became too much to deal with, the youngster turned to the bottle for comfort and during Thursday’s hour-long episode, she told Ben what she really thought of him.

They both ended up in The Hop as the kayaking instructor had found evidence someone had tried to drown Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) a few weeks ago and Liv was looking for her phone.

After Ben told her to go home, she followed him into the office and realising she was drunk, he grabbed hold of her to take her home.

The youngster fought him with every fibre in her body, telling him not to “touch” her and as she tried to push away, she fell to the floor.

“I was trying to help you, you’re hammered. Please let me get you out of here,” Ben said to his boyfriend’s sister before he started filming her.

When questioned about why he was doing it, he explained: “Only so you can’t twist it. I want Aaron to see how you are.”

“Well how messed up is that,” she replied before lunging at him and calling him every name under the sun.

The pair grappled for a few seconds as they fought to get hold of the phone but it was the youngster who managed to get her hands on it.

“You hate me,” she barked, telling Aaron’s boyfriend, assuring him he “wasn’t going to get rid of [her] without a fight”.

Liv left Ben to do some more digging and managed to somehow get herself home, but not before bumping into Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) who she launched a barrage of abuse at.

In Friday night’s episode, it is likely the teenager will discover Ben has been murdered on the same night they went head to head.

Unfortunately for her, there is a huge amount of evidence which will see her a suspect in the case and divert attention away from the real killer, Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu).

For one, Liv will discover she has Ben’s phone on her which will indicate the pair saw each other on the night he died.

Her fingerprints will also be all over his body as Meena put on some gloves when she fought with Ben, which would have left no physical evidence they clashed.

Also, as she was in a drunk state at the time of the altercation, the youngster might have memory loss of the night in question.

This would mean she would struggle to remember if Aaron’s boyfriend was alive or dead when she left him before storming off home.

Lydia also saw her outside The Hop, which is where Ben’s body will be found, so there was an eye-witness to her being at the scene of the crime.

The evidence will stack up against her and knowing she needs to do the right thing, Liv could hand herself in to the police.

She could explain she did not mean to kill Ben but her descent into alcoholism has finally made her someone she doesn’t recognise.

It could be one of the quickest investigations the authorities has ever undertaken in the Dales as they think they have the right person in custody.

Meena would be gleefully watching in the background as she would get away with yet another murder, having taken the lives of three villagers.

This could be the end of Liv’s journey in the village but will she ever be released if it’s revealed Meena is the killer the police want?

Unfortunately, Ben being her latest victim brought an end to actor Simon’s 16-month stint on the show as the door is firmly shut on his character.

Speaking after the kayaking instructor lost his life, the soap star said: “We may have just seen that Ben has sadly fallen to the hands of Meena.

“He was too nice for his own good. He shouldn’t have gone back [to collect the evidence] but yes, I just wanted to say a massive thank you.

“To everyone that is involved in Emmerdale, works on the show and everyone that has supported the show and watches every night.

“It has been an amazing experience to be involved so thank you for having me and onto new things. Thank you so much.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode airing on Thursdays at 8pm.
