Hairy Bikers confirm new show as Dave Myers returns to work after cancer battle

The Hairy Bikers have returned to TV with a new show called The Hairy Bikers Go West.

They are set to return to television screens with a brand-new BBC show where they are set to explore various locations across the country that are mean something from their past.

The popular chef pair – which is made up of Dave Myers, 65, and Si King, 56 – will start in Scotland for and will travel down to Devon as they explore links to their family histories as well as their friendship.

They will start on Bute Island as they will go through Dumfries and Galloway, Lancashire, Merseyside and The Isle of Man, North Wales, along The Severn Estuary and Somerset.

The synopsis of the show read: "They will travel from north to south discovering the producers, farmers and chefs that are contributing to a modern British culinary revolution.

Each week they’ll ride across one stunning part of the west coast and explore the changing area through restaurants, recipes, producers and inventive new food entrepreneurs."

This comes after Dave Myers returned to work despite his ongoing fight against cancer.

In a testament to his resilience, the 65-year-old hasn't let the diagnosis break him and instead has started a sauerkraut diet, featuring fermented cabbage and other gut-friendly grub, which has had an incredibly positive impact on his immune system.

And it goes without saying that the TV chef is delighted to be back doing what he does best — cooking food for our enjoyment.

Talking to The Mirror, Dave said: “It’s unbelievable to be back. Every breath I take now is just refreshing and fabulous. It varies really what food I’ve been having."

He continued: "At some stage, I need to put weight on, but I need things to boost my immune system.

“So I’ve been eating a lot of sauerkraut. It really works for me – sauerkraut, kimchi and meatballs. I live by it. It’s a probiotic and good for the immune system, and keeps you regular. I love it. It’s the healthy eating that does it.”

After a restricted appetite due to chemotherapy, luckily, Dave is now officially on the road to recovery. And while the treatment made him lose his hair and beloved beard, he never lost his positive spirit.
