Hawkeye fans have been desperate for the world’s best archer to receive his own series. Now, Disney Plus will finally be giving the Marvel character the focus viewers wanted, but of course, he won’t be alone. Joined by a Young Avenger, the show will see the superhero pass the torch in a Christmas-themed emotional rollercoaster.
Who is in episode one of Hawkeye?
Hawkeye (Clint Barton) – Jeremy Renner
Original Avenger and one of the last of the first team, Clint Barton aka Hawkeye is played by Jeremy Renner.
While unconfirmed, it is believed this will be Renner’s final performance as the iconic character.
He will be following Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Chris Evans’ Captain America, and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in stepping away from the mega-franchise.
The biggest change for the character in the show will be the fact he is now deaf, something Hawkeye suffers from in the comics.
Renner revealed that Disney Plus will be dropping the first two episodes on November 24, writing on Instagram: “We’re are very excited to share the first two episodes @disneyplus @marvelstudios @haileesteinfeld Nov 24th!!!”
Kate Bishop – Hailee Steinfeld
A new entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the next Hawkeye, Kate Bishop is played by Hailee Steinfeld.
The star is not new to Marvel, as she was originally set to play Mary Jane Watson in the Amazing Spiderman 2, though her scenes were sadly cut.
Ironically, the star voiced Gwen Stacey in Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse.
The show will be concentrating on Kate, as she steps up to take over the Hawkeye mantle.
Co-leading the series, she is set to become the next member of the Young Avengers, an all-teenage team from the original comics.
Steinfeld is also known for Dickinson, True Grit, Bumblebee, and voicing Vi in Arcane.
Yelena Belova – Florence Pugh
Fans were recently introduced to Yelena Belova in Black Widow, which was released in cinemas earlier this year.
Played by Florence Pugh, the character is the sister of Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow herself.
The last time the character was seen, she was being recruited by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).
Valentina is setting up the Dark Avengers, a team of anti-heroes that have already recruited US Agent – John Walker (Wyatt Russell) from Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Pugh is also known for starring in Midsommar, Little Women, and Fighting with My Family.
Jack Duquesne – Tony Dalton
Jack Duquesne is a character from Clint’s past, an expert Swordsman that took a young Clint under his wing and trained him.
While it looks like the show will be diverging from the comics, he is believed to still be connected to Clint’s origins.
Played by Tony Dalton, the actor is best known for playing Lalo Salamanca in Better Call Saul.
He is also known for Sense8, Sr Avila and Duenos del Paraiso.
Eleanor Bishop – Vera Farmiga
Eleanor Bishop is the mother of Kate and matriarch of a wealthy Manhattanite family.
She takes on a villainous role in the comics, directing the activities of Kate’s nemesis Madame Masque.
While Masque did appear in season two of Agent Carter, played by Wynn Everett, she will not be making an appearance in Hawkeye.
Farmiga is known for her roles in The Conjuring franchise, Bates Motel, and The Departed.
Laura Barton – Linda Cardellini
Returning again to the MCU after last being seen in Avengers: Endgame is Laura Barton played by Linda Cardellini.
As one of the millions that disappeared during the Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) snap, it is unclear just how different the character will be now, if at all.
She was first introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron; Laura is the reason Hawkeye retired ahead of Avengers: Infinity War.
Cardellini is known for Mad Men, Brokeback Mountain and Scooby-Doo, where she played Velma.
Maya Lopez – Alaqua Cox
Maya Lopez is a Native American character, born in the Cheyenne Nation.
Born deaf, Clint and Maya will likely connect over their shared disability, with Maya helping him live life without his hearing.
She is also known by the name Echo and has the powers of photographic reflexes.
Played by Alaqua Cox, this is the star’s first role, but during this year’s Disney Plus Day, the service confirmed she would star in her own series – Echo.
Hawkeye will premiere on November 24 exclusively on Disney Plus.
