I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returned for its 21st series on Sunday night as the newest campmates arrived at the historic Gwrych Castle in Abergele, North Wales. As hosts, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly welcomed the contestants to the show, and they took on death-defying challenges to be split into teams, the campmates soon had the grand tour of the castle. However, former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin has already stirred up some trouble as she commented she refuses to use the shower.
Ten new celebrities finally came out of isolation in their luxury hotels and have now begun the challenge of surviving in the Welsh countryside for three weeks.
This year’s line-up includes pop star Frankie Bridge, formers BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin, music producer Naughty Boy, TV presenter Richard Madeley, Olympic gold medallist Matty Lee, Paralympian Kadeena Cox, football legend David Ginola, former Strictly judge Dame Arlene Phillips, Radio 1Xtra DJ Snoochie Shy and Emmerdale star Danny Miller.
After competing in a series of challenges before arriving at the castle, Frankie, Louise, Kadeena, Matty and Snoochie all entered the main camp and began exploring.
As they first walked into the camp, Louise laughed and exclaimed: “I was hoping for a blazing fire when we walked in, I’ve bigged it up in my head, haven’t I.”
They all commented on how old the camp was, to which Louise commented: “It’s the uncosiest thing I’ve ever seen.
“The bedroom is interesting, at the moment it feels really cold in there which makes me a bit nervous and we’re all quite spread out.
“I feel like we’re all really close already, so I’m like I just want us all to be sleeping together,” she admitted.
Later, when she found the shower, she commented: “I was thinking I was going to have quite a lot of showers, but I’ve seen it now, and I’m just like as much as I can possibly avoid it, I’m not going to go in there.”
During their meet and greet, the celebs were split into two teams, with David, Kadeena, Matty and Arlene being the first team to meet.
The second group consisted of Louise, Naughty Boy, Snoochie and Danny, with helicopters arriving to take them to their first destination.
What the contestants didn’t know is that the public had been voting for who they wanted to take on the first trial, which meant Frankie and Richard would meet their campmates later.
Ant and Dec soon joined the second group who took part in the Plank Challenge, where they had to face challenges to win the keys of the castle.
The first group were in a Welsh forest and had to take part in the Hell Hole challenge where the losers would be banished to the Castle Clink on basic rations.
When the celebrities were all reunited after their challenges and were finally told about Frankie and Richard’s whereabouts, they had to choose who they wanted to be a part of their team.
The red team, who now consisted of Louise, Snoochie, Kadeena and Matty, chose Frankie to join their team, which left Richard to join the yellow team.
Frankie and Richard had to face the Turrets of Terror, which consisted of the celebrities having to unlock padlocks whilst having critters falling on top of them.
Frankie was focused and determined to get to the roof in the quickest time, however, Dec commented that Richard wasn’t far behind.
Richard said: “I don’t want to be behind, I want to be in front,” as Ant laughed and waved his finger at Dec.
Frankie completed the third floor and rushed to the roof, and using a large pole, managed to get the key.
The red team all cheered and celebrated that they’d won the key to the castle and would start their time in the castle, not surviving on rations.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs weekdays from 9pm on ITV.
