Love Island 2023 LATEST: First look reveals new islanders entering villa including partially-sighted contestant Ron Hall | The Sun

LOVE Island has dropped a first look at contestants entering the villa as the winter series returns tonight with a new twist.

ITV bosses have given Love Island fans the opportunity to vote for which surprise 'bombshell' contestant enters the villa alongside the other pre-selected islanders, a move that has not gone down well with fans.

And a first-look video has revealed the cast entering the villa for the first time – including farmer Will Young, footballer Tom Clare and Love Island's first partially sighted contestant, Ron Hall.

It comes as Maya Jama was pictured entering in style as the new host landed in the villa grounds via a helicopter to greet the new cast.

Tune in to ITV2 at 9pm for the opening episode of Love Island.

Lana Jenkins will enter the villa

Stunning Lana reckons we could have one of the fastest ‘I love yous’ in Love Island history.

She explained: “I fall in love quickly. I tend to know quite soon if I could fall in love with that person and then, as long as everything is going well, I’ll probably tell them I love them in about a week.”

The make-up artist has also appeared on TV before, saying: “In my work as a makeup artist I’ve worked with lots of celebrities.

“Also, when I was six-years-old I used to live in Spain and I was in an episode of Benidorm as an extra.” Superstar!

“TikTok sensation and young farmer, Will Young has been a hit on social media since being announced on the show, coming in at 3/1.

"He believes he is now mature enough to settle down with a wife. I believe he could go all the way with what we've seen so far; he's full of charism, wit, and he doesn't seem to take life too seriously.

“The other male islanders in this market are Shaq Muhammad at 4/1, Ron Hall at 4/1 and Haris Namani at 9/2.”

"Our traders can’t split the trio of Lana, Anna-May and Olivia who all find themselves priced up as 3/1 joint favourites.

“Lana is a makeup artist from Luton, Anna-May is an administrator from Swansea and Olivia is a ring girl and actress from Brighton. Olivia said she has never been in a relationship before, will any of them find love in the villa?

Contestants must pass this strange test to enter the Love Island villa

If you dream of being on Love Island one day, you better not be prone to nightmares or sleepwalking.

The Sun can reveal those who suffer extreme nightmares and sleepwalking will not make it into the villa.

Contestants undergo a range of tests – including for drugs and psychological issues when applying for the show.

A source revealed: “Included in this are things like severe sleepwalking or extreme nightmares – called night terrors.

“Conditions like sleepwalking mean they could put themselves or others in danger and someone with terrible nightmares would really disrupt the order of the villa."

      Shaq Muhammad looking for love

We’ll have to wait and see if he pats anyone down, but airport guard Shaq is dubbed the “talk of the terminal”.

And he’s not just looking for a summer romance – he’s looking for love.

He said: “I haven’t had the best luck with previous relationships. So I thought, why not be in the sun and potentially meet the love of my life?

“Hopefully I do come out with my future wife. The person I hope to marry one day. Hopefully she’s in the villa.”

Who is new islander Olivia Hawkins?

Former Bond actress Olivia is no stranger to fame – or something quite close to it. She once stood in for Michelle Keegan during her Very fashion campaign.

She’s also starred in music videos with Craig David and Tom Zanetti and has danced at Wembley with Charli XCX.

Olivia is clearly not shy about it, saying: “I did a film with Jason Statham and had a nice ten-minute convo about life.

“I’ve been a ring girl for KSI, I played a waitress in James Bond with Daniel Craig and I’ve also been a body double for Michelle Keegan and Emma Watson.”

      Fans spot feud on show

Fans fear Ekin-Su’s boyfriend Davide and her family are “feuding” after watching tonight’s show.

Davide is sat separately from Ekin-Su’s mum and brother – and they didn’t react well to his awkward sex joke.

After Ekin-Su made her debut, host Holly Willoughby said it was the show’s “sexiest ever performance”.

Speaking to Davide in the crowd, Holly said: “Davide, I mean, how fit is your Mrs?”

Davide replied: “Yeah, I’m looking forward to going home.”

Surprised Holly laughed: “Well we’ll make sure she keeps the outfit.”

How much alcohol are the Islanders allowed?

While some Islanders have said they’re only allowed two drinks a night while in the villa, producers have insisted there’s actually no set limit on alcohol.

However, contestants still can’t get as drunk as they want.

Producers tend to judge the amount of alcohol consumed “on a case-by-case basis”.

They told the Huffington Post: “We’re really careful they don’t have too much to drink. We’re responsible about it.”

    • Louis Allwood

Why aren't the Islanders ever filmed eating their lunch or dinner?

Meal times aren't shown as this is seen as "down time" for the islanders, where they can relax and have a break from the cameras.

But even though meals aren’t filmed, Olivia Attwood – who came third with Chris Hughes in the 2017 series – insisted nothing juicy ever happens during meal times, as producers insist conversation is kept to a minimum.

Speaking to The Sun, she explained: “We eat with the producers but it runs like a boarding school.

“When we have dinner, it's like them telling us we need to clean the bedroom, that laundry day is tomorrow and asking us what we want for our breakfast the next day, all just things that make the house run smoothly.

“So it's nothing really exciting. It's quite mundane stuff!”

    • Louis Allwood

What do the Love Island contestants eat in the villa?

The Islanders make their own breakfast every morning – but lunch and dinner are a different matter.

A catering station is set up in the grounds of the villa with chefs on hand to make food – usually consisting of salads and barbecued meats – for the contestants, as well as all the production team.

The outdoor kitchen in the villa is regularly stocked with snacks, with contestants being able to request whatever they want.

The grand finale will take place eight weeks later on March 13, 2023.

Is Ron Hall on Instagram and TikTok?

Ron is active user on social media, and you can follow him on Instagram.

During his time in the famous villa, he will have someone else running his page, which can be found @ronhall__/.

Ron is not on TikTok at this time (January 2023)

    • Louis Allwood

      Who is Ron Hall?

Born in 1996, Ron Hall is a finance worker who hails from Essex.

He has switched the world of business to become a reality star on Love Island 2023.

Speaking about being selected for the show, he told ITV: "I think it’s the best show to find love on.

"I’m now 25 and I had in my head that I’d be with someone, settled and married by say 27… it’s now coming awfully close to that.

Ron lost the sight in his right eye in a footballing accident as a youngster, and as a result, he is blind in one eye.

Talking about the day it happened, he said: "On meeting me, you’d never know I am blind in one eye. It was the result of a football injury when I was 8; I went in for a header and got kicked in the face.

"I’ve got two different coloured eyes, one blue and one green. It’s added to my character, there are so many people that are worse off than me. And if anything, losing something like that makes you realise that. It’s not hindered me in any shape or form. It’s a good conversation starter I must admit."

      Windy start

Love Island bosses were left battling a stormy opener — but for once it wasn’t the cast behind the mayhem.

Gale force winds swept in across the villa’s pool and garden, threatening to cause chaos on the opening night.

Blasts of 50mph buffeted the newly-built, £1.2million mansion in Cape Town, South Africa, as crew fought to film the scenes.

It came just hours after TV presenter and show host Maya Jama, 28, had made her much-hyped “epic” arrival by helicopter in scenes that will be aired on tonight’s launch show.

      Love Island Bond girl

Love Island's real life Bond girl Olivia Hawkins says her time as a boxing ring girl was “empowering” despite calls for the outdated role to be scrapped.

The brunette, 27, works part-time at matches as well as picking up acting work and has covered huge fights for rapper turned boxer KSI.

Olivia argued: “Obviously they got rid of the Formula 1 grid girls, but I feel so empowered.

“Everyone within the boxing community makes me feel so welcome.

“And you always feel so supported with all the security and everything, but I just think every woman should embrace themselves and do whatever they want.

“Obviously, I get the odd wolf whistle, but I don’t really tend to pay too much attention to that.

“Once I’m finished, I’m just ready to get in my car and get the heater on really.”

'It's time to take a chance on love'

The wait is finally over as 10 new hopefuls will enter the villa in search of love tonight.

New host Maya Jama said: "It's time to take a chance on Love, as our brand new islanders are here.

"Tonight our 10 sexy singletons will walk through the villa door ready to grab love by the horns.

"Fire up the firepit and crack on."

Kai Fagan not worrying about career future

The hunk, who also teaches PE and plays semi-pro rugby, has left his current role to head to Cape Town but believes having sex on TV won’t affect his future career.

He said: “I can’t sit here and say right now whether I’m going to be in the ‘Do Bits Society’ or not, because I feel like after a while of being in the villa, you probably forget that you’re getting recorded.

“If stuff happens, stuff happens, doesn’t it?“

“A massive part of teaching is developing good personalities, good relationships, positive relationships.

“If I can demonstrate that on TV, then there’s nothing stopping me from going back to teaching in the future.

“Like I said, it’s human nature, developing relationships, hopefully pursuing it and getting love, which is the aim of the show so it’s positive for the pupils.”

The Law firm administrator from Norwich is set to be one of the first bombshells to enter the villa.

Talking about why she's going on the programme, Ellie said: "I’ve been single for three years and the roster is pretty dry, it’s been dry for the last year, I don’t know what happened, it’s just not been a great time for me so I’m ready to find my husband."

"I don’t give them that bad impression to say, ‘Oh, I don’t want to speak to him again.’" We'll see!
