Love Island fans were left floored when this evening’s show didn’t end on a cliffhanger.
Typically before a recoupling, viewers have to wait until the next evening to see the Islander’s decision playout – but tonight that wasn’t the case.
Following the arrival of newcomer Tom Clare, the 23 year old was tasked with choosing someone to couple up with in this series first recoupling.
Gathering around the fire pit, Tom stood in front of his fellow contestants before revealing who he’d chosen.
Much to viewers’ surprise, ITV producers decided to air his decision this evening with the footballer going on to pick Olivia Hawkins.
Taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on not having to wait for Tom’s answer, one fan wrote: “NO CLIFFHANGER THEY’VE OUTDONE THEMSELVES THIS YEAR”.
“i was fully prepared for a cliffhanger #loveisland,” said someone else alongside a GIPH of Friends’ Joey Tribbiani looking shocked.
Another person went on: “Big round of applause to the producers of love island for not leaving the episode on a cliffhanger”.
“me shocked and proud love island actually didn’t leave us on a cliffhanger,” quipped someone else.
“Love island NOT ending on a cliffhanger??? I’m in shock,” another added as they shared their hopes of the trend continuing throughout this season.
Following Tom’s decision to couple up with Olivia, farmer Will Young is now single and vulnerable.
After Tom announced his choice, Will received a text saying: "Will, you are now single. At the end of the week, all Islanders will take part in a recoupling. The Islander not picked to be in a couple will be dumped from the Island."
All hope isn’t lost for Will though, as two new bombshells are set to head into the villa tomorrow.
Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown, 25, and Money Adviser David Salako, 25, will be making their villa debut.
Speaking about joining the show, Essex local David said: "Listen, there’s only one David Salako. There we go. If you’re in a relationship with me it’ll be nothing but good fun, vibes. I think I’m alright looking as well…"
Similarly, Zara from London said: "I’m very loving to a fault, I am a Leo and people often think Leos are arrogant but we’re just very self-assured, we love ourselves but we have the same capacity to love other people."
Love Island returns tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
