La Casa de Papel will soon be coming to an end as Netflix unveils the final season of the popular heist drama. As the ending is in sight, many fans have begun speculating about how it might all finish. One theory revolves around Tokyo (played by Úrsula Coberó) being the only character to be captured – here’s what you need to know about this.

Will Tokyo be captured by the police at the end of Money Heist?

Money Heist will be returning to Netflix with its fifth and final season of the Spanish series.

This was confirmed earlier this year and the show has been filming for the past few months.

So far, not much has been revealed about what will happen in the final outing, aside from some casting news.

However, some fans think Tokyo might play a major part in how it all comes to an end.

This is because she has been the narrator of the show since the very beginning.

Throughout all four seasons so far, she has been telling the story of what has been going on in the past tense.

As a result, viewers have been left wondering if she could be relaying the story from a future point.

Given she seems to still be alive, some have even speculated she might be doing this from prison.

Posting on Reddit recently, one user asked other fans to share their biggest theories about what would happen.

Fan Skinny_cartmen_4460 wrote: “I think that Tokyo might get caught again and have a ‘plan Paris’ thing and that might explain Tokyo narrating.”

This would definitely make sense as a theory because so far it has never been explained why Tokyo is narrating.

As well as this, in the final outing, the crew will be attempting to make it out of the Bank of Spain.

This is no easy task as they have been attempting this for the past two seasons.

Therefore, when the show finally comes to an end, it seems likely at least some of the crew would have been captured by the Spanish police.

However, some fans disagree and have come up with other ideas about why she voices the series.

Posting on the fan forum, neilthakkar03 suggested it was because she was the only survivor at the end.

They wrote: “I guess it was because at the end only Tokyo will survive so she was narrating the incidents.”

While another suggested it was simply a story decision as Tokyo makes the most sense as a narrator.

Erise1 posted: “Because somebody had to be the narrator. It couldn’t be the Professor (Álvaro Morte) because it would destroy the element of surprise when he suddenly comes up with a new idea.

“They wanted us to admire him (like the gang did), to guess what he thinks or plans to do, and this was only possible if we looked ‘from the outside.’”

Yet, despite how the show comes to its final end, it seems like viewers will just have to keep waiting to find out.

In the meantime, the show’s creator Álex Pina has released a brief synopsis about what will happen.

He told Netflix: “We have spent almost a year thinking about how to destroy the band. How to put the Professor on the ropes.

“How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth season of La Casa de Papel.

“The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season”.

Money Heist seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix now.
