Outlander season six has been in the making for Starz since 2020 and eager fans have been waiting in anticipation for news of its arrival.

The latest instalment will be made up of eight episodes and it will be based on Diana Gabaldon’s book A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

Jamie Fraser actor Sam Heughan and Claire’s Caitriona Balfe have been teasing some details of what fans can expect.

The new season will introduce new challenges for the couple, including an impending war and a new family, the Christies.

On October 23, Starz announced season six will premiere at 9pm on Sunday, March 6, across all Starz platforms.

Gabaldon announced the news at the launch of the ninth book in the series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.

Season six follows the events of the fifth season that saw Claire return to Fraser’s Ridge after escaping a dangerous run-in with Lionel Brown (Ned Dennehy).

She and Jamie are keen to maintain peace before the revolution.
