BBC Breakfast was hosted by Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt on Saturday morning. Towards the end of the show, Naga passed over to Matt Tebbutt in order for him to tease ahead to Saturday Kitchen. However, it wasn’t long before the TV chef got a telling off from Naga, as he confessed he’d not been paying attention to her interview.

As coronavirus restrictions begin to relax in parts of the UK, BBC Breakfast invited two guests into the studio for an interview.

Linda Bauld and Dr Chris Smith, were welcomed into the studio on Saturday morning for a discussion about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Despite the pair regularly speaking on the program together, throughout the pandemic they have been doing so via video link.

When Naga and Charlie introduced the duo, they revealed it was the first time Linda and Chris had met in person.

After speaking to Linda and Chris in person, Naga handed over to Matt to find out what would be coming up on his show.

Starting things off in a good mood, Matt said: “Good morning. How are you?” Naga replied: “Really well thank you.”

“Good, good, it’s nice to see those guys in the studio,” Matt remarked.

Naga agreed, saying: “Isn’t it lovely? It’s lovely when you all get to meet up in a studio isn’t it?”

“It’s really nice. I love how they travel with their plants as well,” Matt joked, commenting on the greenery in the BBC Breakfast studio.

“No, we gave them the plants. We gave them the plants,” Naga quickly responded.

“Oh alright, well I wasn’t paying attention really,” the TV chef confessed.

Naga scolded the Saturday Kitchen host, saying: “Well that’s obvious, isn’t it. Maybe pay better attention to your program, hey?”

Matt burst out laughing and replied: “I will thank you!”

The star then quickly moved on to sharing what would be coming up on Saturday Kitchen.

“Right our special guest today is the fabulous Sarah Hadland,” he said.

Unlike Matt, many viewers were paying attention to the BBC Breakfast segment and took to Twitter to share their thoughts about seeing Linda and Chris in the studio.

One viewer commented: “I came into the room and literally squeaked when I realised they were in the studio”

“Highlight of my Saturday morning seeing Linda & Chris” a second fan agreed.

Meanwhile, other viewers took the opportunity to thank the pair for all the coronavirus advice they’d given to BBC Breakfast viewers throughout the pandemic.

“They have been excellent throughout – big thank you to both from me and mine,” another viewer wrote.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
