Queen of the South season five has finally arrived in the US and the season is made up of 10 episodes. The show’s final season started airing on April 7, 2021, and the episodes have been released weekly. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about when the series will make its way over to the UK.

When is Queen of the South season 5 out in the UK?

In March 2021 fans were finally given a US release date for the fifth and final season of Queen of the South.

The season finale is scheduled to air on June 9, 2021, so fans still have plenty to look forward to.

Yet for those in the UK, they have had to try hard to avoid spoilers as the season is not out yet.

For fans in other parts of the world, the series is made available to watch on Netflix.

Sadly there is no date for when the series will be made available, but Express.co.uk has contacted Netflix for more information.

Season four landed on Netflix in May 2020, which was nine months after the finale aired on USA Network.

Season three arrived on the streaming platform in June 2019, which is also nine months after the finale air date.

With this in mind, the same time frame could be expected for the final season.

This means season five may not be available to UK fans until March 2022, so they still have some time to wait.

In April 2021 fans took to Twitter to express their excitement for the UK release date.

One said: “Can someone pleeeeeeease let me know when Queen of the South season 5 is available in the UK? We need a date.” [Sic]

Another said: “Just finished Queen of the South and cannot find when season 5 is coming to Ireland and the UK. I know it’s started in the US already.”

Teresa Mendoza star Alice Braga spoke to Entertainment Tonight Canada about the release of the final season.

Filming had been delayed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but she was excited to get back to work.

She said: “It is very hard to not spoil because I have been with this group for a year now and I just want to tell everybody.

“Basically it’s after season four when she loses her godson and…she becomes more of a darker person.

“In season five a lot is going to happen because of that, she needs to be empowered.”

The trailer for the fifth seasons shows James (Peter Gadiot) warning Teresa that people are coming for her.

She asks him to find out who they are, but her allies believe she is being led into a trap.

In the final season, Teresa will be forced to make some of the toughest decisions of her life.

Braga describes her character as the anti-hero who is a heroine of her own life.

She has definitely been through a lot and she is the ultimate survivor, withing victimising herself.

Teresa is constantly on the run but she continues to justify every risk she has taken.

She added: “I never thought how many people would be asking about the next season. We had a fanbase that has been amazing.”

Hopefully, season five will be released in the UK soon so fans can catch up.
