Roy gets diagnosis as he receives worrying health update in Coronation Street

Roy Cropper (David Neilson) finally found out what was causing his chest pains after another attack sent him to hospital in a recent Coronation Street episode.

The café owner was once again out walking dog Freddie when his four legged friend decided to chase after a cat, striking fear into his owner.

Scared of losing him, Roy made chase, managing to retrieve the pup before he came to any harm.

The same couldn’t be said for Roy, however, who doubled over with pains in his chest.

Luckily, best friend Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) was soon on hand to call for help, taking no risks by calling for an ambulance straight away.

At the hospital, having undergone several tests, Evelyn scolded him for running after Freddie and risking his life.

In a heartfelt moment, Evelyn revealed that, having already lost Cerberus (in scenes that tore all of our hearts out), she couldn’t risk losing another friend.

The sweet moment was interrupted by a doctor, who had the results of Roy’s tests.

The doctor informed them that Roy’s coronary artery had narrowed significantly, and diagnosed him with angina.

Roy asked if that could be treated by medication, but the doctor suggested that the best course of action would be to have a stent put in to widen the artery.

The doctor assured them that it was a straightforward procedure and Roy agreed to get booked in for the operation.

Evelyn asserted that he should tell niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) what was going on, but Roy couldn’t bring himself to say anything.

Instead, he decided to go on holiday in order to give him time to recover without Nina noticing.

With Evelyn offering to look after Freddie, there was no turning back.

Will Roy really continue to keep this a secret from Nina, or will she soon work out that something is wrong?
