STRICTLY star Katya Jones has told how internet bullies trolled her after she went from a size six to a size eight over Christmas.
The Russian-born dancer, 32, said: “I see comments. People are saying, ‘Glad to see she’s losing some weight. She was looking a little bit chunky.’
“It’s like, ‘I went from a size six to a size eight — and you’re calling me chunky?’
"Mentally it’s not an easy place to be. You’re expected to be that certain shape that represents a dancer.”
Katya — who joined Strictly in 2016 and won the following year with actor Joe McFadden, 45 — said: “I love Christmas. I love socialising. I had cake, it made me happy!
“I try to have a positive mental attitude. I tried to look inside. I try to do what is good for me. I know when I am fit and healthy, I am energised.”
Katya was partnered in last autumn’s series of the hit BBC show with former boxing champ Nicola Adams, 38 — the first same-sex pairing.
But Nicola tested positive for Covid and they had to quit immediately.
Katya — married to fellow Strictly pro Neil Jones, 39, until August 2019 — is now looking forward to returning as one of the 16 professional dancers when the show comes back this autumn.
Speaking to Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller, 29, on her Monday Mile podcast, Katya added: “I crave muscle ache and I want my feet to bleed.
“I can’t wait for the brain ache from coming up with all the ideas. I absolutely love it. When you do what you love, it is not work. My work is my motivation.”
Meanwhile ex-Strictly pro AJ Pritchard was joined for a night out by dancer girlfriend Abbie Quinnen — five months after a horror accident landed her in hospital.
Abbie, 23, suffered third degree burns to her face and upper body after a “life hack” YouTube video went wrong.
AJ, 26, supported her during her recovery — and she said last month the pair were stronger than ever.
They were checking out the one-woman show of judge Shirley Ballas in Clapham, South London.
Shirely, 60, was cheered on by 47-year-old actor boyfriend Danny Taylor. They larked around in fez hats in a nod to his stint impersonating comedy legend Tommy Cooper.
STRICTLY pro Anton du Beke, 54, said he had a hair transplant because “it doesn’t hurt as much as looking into the mirror and seeing your hairline disappearing”.
He told Steph McGovern on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch that the 2017 op helped him recover his confidence.
