The One Show fans were left totally baffled after Gino D'Acampo admitted to taking six months holiday each year.

He was quizzed by BBC host and football pundit Jermaine Jenas, 38, on Tuesday's episode about his "work life balance" rule.

Gino confessed that he would only for for half of the year and would holiday for the rest with his family in Sardinia.

Viewers of the programme stormed Twitter, wanting to know how the chef managed to achieve such a relaxed lifestyle.

One online user asked: "@BBCTheOneShow How much holiday does @Ginofantastico give his restaurant staff? If it's six months, can he sort me out with a job? #TheOneShow."

Another person chimed in: "Come on he does filming I’m not entirely sure how much he does actually work in restaurants now like the other one #TheOneShow."

While a third added: "Pay my bills then Gino and I’ll also take 6 months off a year #TheOneShow."

Host Jermaine said: "On the other hand Gino, a man who likes six months of every year off I'm sure you love laying around.

"How are you getting away with having six months off every year by the way?"

Gino explained: "I've been having six months off for the last eight to ten years. I am a great believer that you need to have balance in life.

"If I work for six months, then I want to have a holiday for six months because my life cannot always be about work."

The This Morning chef added: "I admire and respect people who have a lot of time for work. I have a lot of friends that do that but it's not me.

"I think there are so many beautiful things in life that you can do that have got nothing to do with work and if one has the chance, then you should take it.

The football pundit responded: "I think I need to find my inner Gino D'Acampo it's somewhere in there."

Presenter Lauren Laverne interjected: "I've been getting this work life balance thing so wrong."

The Italian-native appeared on the programme to discuss his upcoming new cook book Gino's Italian Family Adventure.

During the chat with Jermaine and Lauren he explained that his book had been created during lockdown with all of his family members and been very special to him.

Gino said he and his family decided to be "proactive" during the pandemic and came together to craft out a new publication together from their own home recipes.
