Traitors fans praise ‘hilarious’ Comic Relief sketch featuring iconic contestant

Popular BBC series The Traitors returned for a hilarious sketch for Red Nose Day, as two iconic contestants joined a a rather star-studded round table.

The parody sketch began with Dawn French playing show host Claudia Winkleman, who announced: "I’m actually Claudia Winkleman – half woman, half fringe."

Those sat around the table then began to remove their hoods, revealing the famous faces underneath, which included Alison Hammond, Dame Mary Berry, Steve Merchant and Danny Dyer.

Actor Ewan McGregor also made an appearance as his Star Wars character Obi Wan Kenobi.

As the skit continued, Traitors icon Maddy Smedley was unhooded and accused those around the table of either being traitors or faithfuls.

She then accused the hooded individual sat next to her, who was then revealed to be actual series traitor Wilfred Webster.

One hooded individual was eventually revealed to be the real Claudia Winkleman, who accused Dawn of being the Traitor.

“You see, you don’t sound like me, you’re not as orange as me, and your wig is much, much better than mine,” she says.

Fans watching the segment were left in hysterics, with many sharing their thoughts on Twitter.

One viewer wrote: "The traitors sketch on #ComicRelief was 10/10/10/10/10" to which another replied: "i’m crying with laughter, i need to screen grab some of alison’s faces".

"The Traitors comic relief special. Dawn French as Claudia is already making me howl with the neck on her jumper getting bigger" added another.

While a fourth said: "Obi-wan Kenobi pairing up with The Traitors I'm crying! #RedNoseDay #ComicRelief"

Others shared their excitement at seeing Maddie and Wilf return to The Traitors, with one writing: "Great Traitors sketch for #RedNoseDay – nice to see Wilf and Maddy join in too! #ComicRelief"

"OMG Maddy and Wilf AND Obi Wan!!! #ComicRelief" penned a second, while a third added: "Maddy! Wilf! Love it! #traitors #RedNoseDay #ComicRelief"

The Traitors first came to UK screens last year where it quickly became a smash-hit, and drew in 4.6 million viewers for its finale just before Christmas.

A second season has now been confirmed, with a show source telling The Mirror: "These days almost every new series is a reboot of something that's gone before.

"So it's really nice to try something fresh – and for it to do well. The Traitors got everyone talking, so bringing it back was a no-brainer. Claudia was perfect."
