Walk the Line ITV release date: When does Simon Cowell and Maya Jamas talent show start?

Walk the Line has been announced just weeks after it was confirmed X Factor had been axed but music mogul Simon Cowell is returning with a brand new show to try and trump the success of the reality singing competition. Maya has been cast as the host of the ITV show in what she is saying is a “dream role” for her. Here is everything you need to know about when the show is being released.

When is Walk the Line going to air on ITV?

Following the announcement the show was going to be making its way to ITV, it was all revealed it would be on-screen later this year.

Walk the Line will arrive both on the network’s main channel and the ITV Hub at the same time, meaning viewers can watch it whenever they want.

Unfortunately, a specific start date has not been confirmed but it could take the slot once held by the X Factor live shows.

These were replaced by the Britain’s Got Talent finals last year but bosses could be working to release their new show during this Saturday night time slot.

It is not yet known how long each episode will be, meaning a start time is also yet to be confirmed by the network.

What is Walk the Line on ITV all about?

Walk the Line will combine both musical talents and physical resistance in the new reality competition show.

For whoever wins the show, £500,000 is being put on the table which could allow the contestant to launch their career in the industry.

It won’t only be soloists who take part in the programme as duos, bands and choirs will be seen showcasing their talents.

Simon will lead a panel of judges to determine who could win the prize money but his co-stars have not yet been revealed.

However, the contestants will have a dilemma to face as they have to decide on just how much money they will win.

As they progress in the competition, they will be asked if they want to leave with the cash they have earned or take a risk.

If they decide to psychically Walk the Line, they could see their cash pot increased substantially or they could crash out.

Having shaped the future for stars such as One Direction and Little Mix, Simon will be hoping to add some fresh talent to the current music scene.

Who will be hosting Walk the Line on ITV?

Maya is going to be taking on a role similar to Dermot O’Leary for the X Factor by supporting the contestants on their journey.

Having had her own show on BBC Radio 1, as well as hosting BBC Three’s Glow Up and Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, the presenter is a familiar face on UK screens.

Discussing her role on the show, Maya said: “If someone said to me, describe your dream job, it would be this!

“I literally couldn’t be more excited to be working with Syco, Lifted Entertainment and the incredible team at ITV on Walk the Line.”

Head of Entertainment at ITV, Katie Rawcliffe, added: “Maya is an exciting talent who brings a fresh energy, star power and stellar credentials to Walk the Line.

“We’re looking forward to working with her and introducing this brilliant new format to viewers later in 2021.”

It is hoped the success of the British version of the show will allow the format to become an international brand.

Rivalling the likes of the Got Talent franchise, ITV studios will be dealing with the roll-out of the show across the world.

Walk the Line will begin later this year on ITV.
