Who is Paris Bennett on Psycopath with Piers Morgan and when does it start?

Piers Morgan returns to our screens tonight for another in-depth interview, this time with an American man who was convicted of murder.

Psychopath with Piers Morgan will see him meet Paris Bennett, who stabbed his four-year-old sister to death back in 2007.

Since committing the crime, he has been diagnosed as a psychopath and is serving a 40-year jail sentence.

Here is what you need to know about Paris Bennett and his crime.

What did Paris Bennett do?

Paris Bennett was 13-years-old in 2007 when he decided to stab his younger sister Ella, after convincing their babysitter to go home for the evening.

He later told police that he had done it to get revenge for his mother, Charity Lee, relapsing into drugs.

His mother had been a heroin addict before having children and then relapsed when Paris was 11, leading to him looking after his sister.

He attacked Ella while she was sleeping, then called a friend and dialled 911 to tell an emergency worker what he had done.

Charity Lee wrote in Good Housekeeping she has ‘learned to live with the past’ but will never understand why her Paris ‘did what he did’.

Speaking to Piers during the interview, Paris said: ‘‘Even during the time that I was stabbing her, I was struggling with myself to stop.’

‘Yes, I did commit a monstrous crime but does that one mistake define my entire life…I don’t think it does.’

When does Psychopath with Piers Morgan start?

The episode will air at 21.00 on Thursday 27 June on ITV.

The one-hour show will see Piers Morgan sit down with Paris and discuss his crime, while a former elite FBI profile watches on and analyses his answers.

Currently, there is just one episode planned, but the broad title of the series suggests that there could be more on the way if it proves to be a success.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly about the series, Piers Morgan said: ‘I’ve sat with a lot of killers, very dangerous people, I’ve never felt quite as chilled in a bad way as I was by that guy.’

Who is Dr Casey Jordan?

Casey Jordan is a specialist in criminal behaviour, and she is one of the experts who will be listening in to Piers Morgan’s interview with Paris Bennett.

She has worked with Piers on his Confessions of a Serial Killer series, and she has appeared on Good Morning Britain in the past to discuss criminal cases.

Casey has also been involved in various TV projects covering crime stories and criminology in general, as well as appearing as a reliable source of information on various news stations.

Speaking about Paris in the episode, Casey Jordan said: ‘“Psychopathy can’t be cured. He will not, can not change. He can be managed which is why he is in a prison but it will never go away. In my opinion, he should never get out.’
