Zack Snyder is switching his focus from superheroes to gods.
The “Justice League” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Steel” director is teaming up with Netflix to create an anime series inspired by Norse mythology.
There isn’t any more information about the untitled series, which Snyder co-created with frequent collaborator Jay Oliva (who will serve as showrunner and director).
Snyder’s wife, Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller will also produce the series through Stone Quarry Animation, an offshoot of their production company with Oliva.
“Zack Snyder’s innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation,” said John Derderian, head of anime programming at Netflix. “We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style.”
Netflix has been expanding its anime slate, which includes “Ultraman,” Aggretsuko,” “Castlevania,” and “Transformers — War for Cybertron.”
Snyder already has a working relationship with the streamer; he’s writing, directing and producing the zombie movie “Army of the Dead.”
